Here is another recipe for gingerbread cookies. I am still looking for the best gingerbread cookie recipe, if you have one that you think is good post it for us to try!
- 7 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/3 Cup Shortening
- 1 1/2 Cup Dark Molasses
- 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 2/3 cup cold water
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 2 Tsp Baking Soda
- 2 Tsp Ground Ginger
- 1 Tsp Ground Allspice
- 1 Tsp Ground Cloves
- 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
In mixer bowl beat brown sugar, molasses, shortening, and water until incorporated.
Stir in remaining ingredients and mix well.
Refrigerate until firm - 1 to 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Lightly dust work surface with flour. Roll dough to 1/4" thick, sprinkling flour on rolling pin and work surface to prevent sticking.
Roll and cut shapes and place on parchment lined baking sheet in the center of the oven.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges begin to brown.
