Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Recipe

This Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Recipe will remind you of the ones Grandma used to make, a classic cookie that is a favorite with both kids and adults.

Substitute a thicker #3 Thick Oat if you like Oats, these can be found at most grocery stores.

Substitue your favorite dried fruit; apricots, cherries, cranberries, etc. for the traditional raisins as an alternative.


  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 3/4 Cup Unsalted Butter - Room Temperature
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar - Firmly Packed
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 3 Cups Old-Fashioned Oats
  • 1 Cup Raisins - Soaked


Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg and set aside.

In mixer bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy using paddle attachment (approx 3 min.).

Add the egg and beat until well incorporated.

Add flavoring

Add flour mixture to the butter mixture in thirds. Mix just until flour is blended - do not over mix.

Scrape down the bowl as needed.

Mix in oats and raisins just until blended.

Using an ice cream scoop or spoon drop cookie dough on parchment lined baking sheet.

Place in center of the oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until edges begin to brown.
