March Madness Sugar Cookies

I don’t profess to be a die-hard sports fan, but these sugar cookies were fun to make. In fact, my favorite teams are whatever teams my kids are on and UCLA, my alma mater. I do, however, happen to live with two big-time college basketball fans, and for the last few days my TV has been all NCAA March Madness Basketball, all the time! I bet you are wondering what this has to do with cookies, well...

Nothing goes better with sports watching than cookie eating. I speak from experience when I tell you this. So to commemorate this tournament, I have created a delicious set of NCAA Final Four mascot cookies featuring: the Kansas Jayhawk, University of Kentucky, the Syracuse Orangeman, and the Duke Bluedevil . This is one plateful of delicious cheerleading!

We lived in Lexington, Kentucky, for about a month last fall, and it was a contender for our final stopping place after a year in South America. Ultimately the pull of the west brought us back to Oregon, but I did catch the Big Blue Bug! We got stuck in a massive tailgating party in the parking lot of the UK stadium, and saw what a great bunch of fans UK has.

My up-and-coming “CoachCrush” is on UK coach John Calipari. I love a coach that can create a winning program wherever he goes, and who encourages his players to just have fun!

So, the big question is, who do you have as your pick for the Final Four? Did I make the right cookies? AND, who are you going to pick to take it all? DRUMMMMMMMMM ROLLLLLLL PLEASE……………………………………………………… And my pick for the winner of the NCAA March Madness Tournament is….
